In the beginning...

The founding members of Unlimited Water entered the water industry in the early 90s. It has to start somewhere, and we started out a young, but proven team of water cooler execs… in fact we’re winners of awards, including the prestigious 3i Company of the Year award conducted by KPMG. Shane ignited the launch of Unlimited Water in Melbourne in 1997, and immediately set about attracting some fine people to the cause, and laying down the initial systems that would be the backbone of our service in the years ahead.

Already knowing and loving industry, we were really fired up by the prospects of the better product we were launching. We have that same energy still – more so even, as it’s fuelled by a really talented team. We are Leaders in our market today because we have the best people on board, and every one of us is expert or actively learning in his or her area. Every member of our team takes pride in his or her work.

Growth

We grew from inner-city focus, serving first Melbourne CBD, then Sydney – to expand into a National operation in the early 2000's, with service right across the suburbs of all our major cities. Commitment to continuous learning has led us to develop as a company, as has consulting industry leaders in water standards & procedures; and we’ve never been shy about asking corporate customers about their needs either.

We’ve built a client base of many thousands that includes leaders in manufacturing, science, government, finance, transport… you name the industry – alongside the mix of operations and offices that make up Australia’s huge sector of small & medium enterprises. Even Water Companies themselves choose to use Unlimited Water coolers in their offices!

And now, in 2008, we are the standard-setter. We are at the top of our game.

Culture ‘Buzz’

Passion. Engagement. Evolution. We are absolutely charged up about what we’re doing and where we’re going with filtered water. We are passionate people, and that passion seems to have a momentum… a life of its own. There’s a buzz at Unlimited Water. That’s what drives us, and the culture of our fantastic team.

We run a flat management system in which approach, feedback, and input, is 2-way between frontline operators and back-end managers. There’re no people hidden away in cubicles muttering “That’s not my area”... filtered water coolers and Customer issues are everyone’s main agenda at Unlimited Water. When a manager spontaneously jumps on a motorbike and rides through the City himself to race to a Customer in need... with role guidance like that, people soon come to understand how Service is done at this place. We’re there when our Customers need us, but otherwise we’re so fine-tuned they hardly notice us. And the message about us, that we get in feedback from our Customers, is this: Exceptional.

We maintain our team spirit with simple principles: like through having a giggle together. Through directing some of our efforts and resources to a good cause like WaterAid. And through including everyone in what’s going on. That’s what keeps our office buzzing. (Our Staff Xmas parties and trips away are becoming the stuff of legend!) It’s the attitude that sets us apart. It’s what keeps us fresh to the day’s creative challenges, and that means we’re always evolving, we’re always adding value to the service that we provide to our Customers: we have a record of exceeding expectations.

We know we’re doing it right, because we ask our customers – and in our last survey, 98.8% of them told us we’re right on the mark. Our approach has brought us consistent growth, outpacing the market right from the start. We’ve grown to be the emerging market leader in filtered water coolers.

Helping through WaterAid

Being a solid well established growth Company gives us the opportunity to get behind some really significant and crucial projects. The WaterAid program that we support provides clean drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene education to those most in need in developing countries – they’re the foundations for all other development that these societies so badly need. This is a project that makes a real difference, in a very real way, for people that really need help.
